Ploss = power loss of capacitor th = hot spot temperature
IRMS = effective current TA = ambient temperature
ESR = equivalent series resistance rth = thermal resistance
Lop = expected working life=
Calculation example (peh200oo427amb2)
Input: ambient temperature = 70 ℃, ripple current = 30A (10 kHz)
Working voltage = 350V ESR (85 ℃, 10 kHz) = 4.6m Ω
Thermal resistance rth = 4.3 ℃ / W
Calculation: power loss = IRMS? X ESR = 30? X 4.6 x 10 ֿ 3 = 4.1 W
Hot spot temperature
The assumed hot spot temperature of 85 ℃ is acceptable. (there is no significant difference in ESR between 88 ℃ and 85 ℃)
Output: expected working life
